Genetics Test Review
Create or complete the review for you the upcoming Genetics test. This will be graded in class on Monday 11/02/15
What should students know about genetics by the end of this unit?
1. Seventh grade students are expected to know that living things reproduce, and that the instructions for their traits are contained in genetic material which is found in the genes on chromosomes which are housed in the nucleus of a cell. (R38, L39, L42)
2. Seventh grade students should be able to define "heredity". (R38)
3. Seventh grade students are expected to know that living things reproduce in different ways. They should know that asexual reproduction results in uniform offspring, and that sexual reproduction results in diverse offspring. They might learn that an amoeba reproduces asexually by making a copy of its genetic instructions and then dividing. The result is an offspring that is identical to the parent cell. If organisms reproduce sexually, two parents are involved in contributing information to their offspring, so the offspring will be similar to its parents in some ways, but not identical to either parent. (R41, R40, L42, R43)
